I have walked all described routes myself and to my knowledge each route description was correct at the time it was last updated. But I will not take any responsibility for errors or omissions that may be present. And it is entirely your call to make sure that you are prepared well enough to embark on these walks.

Roslin Glen

East of the village of Roslin, some ten kilometers from the center of Edinburgh, the river North Esk flows through a small gorge named Roslin Glen. Although it is not very large this glen has a nice walk to offer.

Longformacus

On the south side of the Lammermuir Hills lies Longformacus. This village is the start point for a walk that takes in a section of the Southern Upland Way. The walk follows tarmac roads and one easy to walk dirt track.

Edin's Hall

Near the village of Abbey St Bathans lie the prehistoric remains known as Edin's Hall Broch. This walk follows the Whiteadder Water, passing the broch and offering an excellent view across the Tweed valley towards the Cheviot Hills.

Views and reservoirs

At Edinburgh's south-east city limit begin the Pentland Hills. This walk leads you along some of the drinkwater reservoirs that can be found in these hills and it offers magnificent views across the city and the Forth valley.

Moorfoot Hills

These hills lie on the border between Midlothian and the Borders. They are not very accessible for walkers, but if you are not afraid of boggy terrain this walk could be for you. It offers some stunning views.
