POV-Ray sphere_sweep design aid

Logo

POV-Ray's sphere_sweep object is very useful for creating cables and the like, but unfortunately it is not an easy job to design the required splines by hand. This spreadsheet is a graphic aid  to develop cubic splines with up to 30 points. As you enter the spline points various projections of the spline are automatically graphed, like the top view and height profile in the image below.

The spreadsheet was written in Excel 2000, version 9.0. Check here for the general conditions of use for my software.

To use the sphere_sweep design aid, simply download the ZIP file with the spreadsheet to a temporary directory, say C:\temp. Unzip the file and move the resultant file sphere_sweep.xls to a convenient directory. The original ZIP file can now be deleted.

The above example shows the sphere_sweep object used for the optical fiber bundle in this image.
